         Roman

         numerals

to sound

          more Biblical

      & ancient

        but that

    twouldn’t

           actualize

     subdivisions

              of reality

        sweltering

             in winter

with Arctic air

   & a faltering

          crucifix

       of the

    Tropic of Capricorn

The lantern

        was extinguished

     by resolution

to a higher

       authority

to rise up

          and hand

        down the law

          etched in stone

for all to see

        & disobey
