I think they wanna be

RESPECTABLE

but why?

I don’t know;

never have, never will

but they say

never say never

and clichés ruminate

in my head;

the solemn rhythm sits

comfortably

within my realm.

I hear a song

and it echoes

in my ears;

the resonance

clears my soul;

purification

through consumption

of holy water

but that’s

getting too catholic

and I’m trying

to be politically correct

and being catholic

isn’t politically correct

but DON’T

tell Catholics that;

won’t go over too well

like Carlin’s arm pit farts

but none too well

taken

with a grain of salt

and hopefully

a teaspoon

full of good humor

will keep the scene

well balanced

so no one will

even know we’re here

again and again and again
