Getting my passport renewed

actually

stirred up feelings

of patriotism

I looked at the passport

and saw the bold letters

“United States of America”

I am a citizen

of this country

and it got me humming

Hulk Hogan’s song

“I am a real American.” 

that’s when it started

to get frightening

humming songs by Hulk Hogan

does not a stable mind  suggest

I began

to feel like a fool

this kind of poor taste

won’t help my image

I’m just glad

no one was around

to catch me

in my moment of shame

It was tastelessness

that embarrasses me

to no end
