I remain certain

that the tundra

in the freezer

is beginning to thaw

as the power outage

continues

in my apartment

I await the resurgence

of electricity

and plot a game plan

If enough thawing occurs

I may finally retrieve

that long lost popsicle

affixed to the back

of the freezer

I’m sure freezer burn

is inevitable

but general principle

sometimes takes precedence

over common sense
