when we are together

there is that sense

that there is nothing else



the moment we have

is the only moment there is



there is no one at the bar

drinking gin and tonics

smoking nine cigarettes



for me there is not

another person

unless there is

and then i don't

notice them



it's not emotion

it is more the buddhist

of no is or am



but the fact that we are



it doesn't seem like love

there seems like all there is



when i say

i love you

it seems rhetorical



as if it always was

always will be

. . . no need

to point out just

one second of it



before there was

an owls head and

once it is gone



there is the love

of  you
