avoiding contact

I look at you

You look at me

but never do we

look at each other

eyes carefully

dodge the bullet

words remain unsaid—

hours will pass

from the minutes;

days from the hours;

years from the days

It seems a rather

cruel fate

but nonetheless

one we have

brought upon ourselves

which is yet

undeniable
