I wrote her a poem

‘cuz I wanted to lay her

but I must admit

that neither

was a work of art:

The poem or the lay.

It goes that way sometimes

So I’m a failure

as a poet and as a stud

All that’s left now

is to roll over and die

Wax poetic,

though I may,

at this point 

I’m thinking that maybe

I should become a monk.
