Thanksgiving Feast

Folder:
Friends/Family

My morning was dampened with the frigid air

I couldn't get my makeup right, nor my hair

I'd slept too late, mom had been up for hours

There wasn't enough hot water to take a shower

All I wanted to do was go back to bed

Mom told me we had to leave instead

When we got there, I carried all the food

I really, really wasn't in a good mood.

Then the front door opened, we went inside

I was squeezed in a hug and nearly died.

My family chatted about me, clucking their tongues

The scent from the kitchen cuddled my lungs

We gathered at the table - the first time in years

The adults watched football and drank their beers

Sharing past memories and ones that were to come

I'm glad I have the family that I came from.

Sounds like your Thanksgiving was alot better than mine. All I did was chat on the computer and eat some turkey - lol!
