Please Tell Me.

Folder:
Me

Please tell me I don't have to wear the same clothes as anyone else.

Or listen to the same music.

Or have the same hairstyle.

Please tell me I don't have to know what I'm going to be when I grow up

Or that I don't have to fall in love right this second.

Please tell me that I don't have to be popular with everyone

And that I don't have to hurt anyone to be popular.

Please tell me to be patient.

Please tell me to be impatient.

Please tell me to slow down,

Look up at the stars,

And dream about flying through the universe.

Please tell me that this pointless war is going to end.

And things like Racism, and Sexism, and Homophobia are going to stop. And words like kill, and greed, and hate,

Will be left out of the dictionary,

When ignorance has met its fate.

Please tell me I'm not crazy-

But everyone thinks I am.

Please tell me that I can be who I want to be!

That it's okay to be a lesbian!

That I can love who I want to love!

That one day I'll look back and actually think it was fun to be a teenager.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks like this.

Please...tell me...

A monologue I did at a concert once. I got a standing ovation! :) 2004

I like it, and I can imagine how it'd be said in person. :D
