if I could I would hurt for you

all of the tears of hurt you cry

would flow from my eyes instead

you wouldn't even have to bother asking me to

cause I would take all of the tears for you



if I could I would take the pain for you

all of the suffering weighing you down

would be placed on my back instead

you wouldn't have to ask me to carry it for you

cause I would do anything to help you get through



if I could I would take the broken heart

heal yours and tear mine completely apart

break it into a million pieces or more

you wouldn't have to ask me to heal your heart

cause I will gladly tear mine all apart



but I can't do anything I have said

so I will leave it all to God instead

cause he will take all your suffering, all your pain

and he will cry all your tears and heal your soul

because as long as you have him he can make your life whole



so I will pray for you with every sunrise

I will pray that your heart no longer cries

I will pray for you with every lingering sunset

I will pray that you'll be stronger with every breath

I will pray that God will heal all the hurt inside

I pray that God will always be close by your side
