My Dad’s Grill.

Since I was little, I considered my father as the best cooker in the world, some kids considered his fathers as a hero, but that was not my case, for me, my father was the chef on the best restaurant in the world. My father considers his grill as a gift from the Gods, a Mana.  He makes art, and the grill is the tool. It doesn’t matter the day or type of occasion, it could be a birthday, a graduation, an anniversary or a simple football game, my father is going to take advantage of this as an excuse to use his grill. This grill has been in every situation that the family had, whether it was a fight, a reconciliation, a deep talk with some friends, a party with young mates of my sisters or a simple boring Friday, where me and my father went out to listen music and enjoyed the dark sky.  This grill is made with a simple base of cement, on the top, its decorated with white and light brown smooth stones. It has some decorations on the top, like a delicate flower pot, with some fake flowers and a fake butterfly on the other side. This grill is in my backyard, without a celling to protect it for the storms or the hot sunny days, the grill remains there, waiting for the moment when my father used it and as I told, make art with it. The grill is not tall at all, is approximately one meter tall, but it is long, its connected to a free space on the left side, made with the same kind of stones. In this space, it takes place the cutting and the seasoning process, it’s a messy section, but it’s essential to make a good dinner.  Underneath the grill, there is a little box, where the charcoal is resting. Sometimes that charcoal is grey, because days before, it was used to make another piece of art by my father. But the best thing of this simple grill, it’s the joy that brings to my father, every time that he does something, it demonstrated how much he loves us by making what he does the best, cooking with the grill. And every Sunday, when he grills us some meat, or some chicken, I see how his smile grows more.
