Give Her Back

I’ve stared in the face of death

I’ve felt the chill with every new breath

I’ve watched him take

The one who would make this heart break

He has almost taken me twice

I feel my soul caught in his vice

I don’t think he’ll ever let me go

Even if he does, I may never know

I wish he wouldn’t play around

If he wants me just strike me down

Don’t make me wait

I hate to wait

I’ve been ready to leave

Everyday it gets harder to breathe

There’s more to me than just my name

Cause that house and I are one and the same

Lost and empty inside

Only this dark secret we both hide

Still I stay as silent as that home

Quiet inside and all alone

I will make it back there one day

But it won’t be today

Seeing that house, tears fill my eyes

Knowing that I had to watch her die

I was so helpless, couldn’t lend a hand

She fell and I couldn’t help her stand

On a mountain falling from the top

I was forced to watch her clock stop

Her life was over, the end of her time

God why couldn’t have been mine?

Even trade, her life for me

I’d gladly take her place for free

Just to see her smile once more

Is good enough to trade for

So please take what you will

Take until you have had your fill

Then give her back to me

It’s just how it has to be

It’s worth it to me

Just give her back to me
