Insomniac

Every night I follow you, into your darkened room.
Every night you know I'm there, to hold you in your tomb.
This house is not a place of rest, but a prison full of gloom.
I hold you by your consciousness and make you watch the moon.
Why try to defy your master, how dare you defy your doom!
I've been lurching in your shadows since your departure from the womb.
You belong to me you little pittance, 'til the clock on the wall strikes noon.
You can pray all you want but I am you, your thoughts will tell you soon.
Another night, another fight, you try to resist my power.
You left your car, took a cab to the bar, had drinks and lots of powder.
Though through idiocy, you return to me, to a building with a sink.
Those drinks you consumed to try and sleep, spew out 'til your face turns pink.
Chuckling now I walk you in, to your room of doom to think.
Ive always been here, I always will be.
You cannot beat me, you cannot kill me.
Do you ponder why? Do you need a shrink?
Think hard my friend, there's a missing link.
I'll never leave, unless you choose, 'cause you are me.
And I am you.
