Bleed This City

Folder:
FINISHED SONGS

I sold my soul to Laveau

And never thought about it twice

Sang the songs of a city

And they sounded like my life

Ready to sacrifise everything

On a dream and a dare

And find the love I need

In a city that dosen't care

Where music fills the air

Damn near every single night

When the sun goes down

We know to celebrate life

It's a force and you can feel it

In the music when you hear it

This city has a soul

This city has a spirit

You can see it on the faces

Of the people that you meet

When the second line is jumping

With people dancing in the street

You can't help but move your feet

Whenever Shorty blows his trombone

If you left for that storm your not alone

But please COME HOME

I know you hear it calling

You can feel it in your viens

And no matter where you go

You know its really not the same

A force you can't explain

But you can feel it in your gut

The Crescent City calling

Everyday that you wake up

Because

When you breathe this city

You bleed this city

Could never leave this city

If you belive in this city

So if you feel how i feel

Stand up and say this with me

I ain't never leaving

Until the devil comes to get me

When the Brassaholics playing

I'm already there

Any summer night

They jammin Lafayette square

Let them boys blow their horns

And fill the air with the sound of joy

And show the world a passion

The hand of God could not destroy

It's the Big Easy baby

And we live it everyday

And die by these words

Laissez les bon temps rouler

What more can I say

You have to live it to belive it

The House Of The Rising Sun

And you can never leave it

It's that old vodoo magic

That captures your soul

And haunts your every dream

To the days you grow old

Once your life has done left you

And your body grows old

These songs still will be sung

And these stories still will be told

Because

When you breath this city

You bleed this city

Can never leave this city

When you belive in this city

If you feel how I feel

Stand up and say it with me

I ain't never leaving

Until the devil comes to get me

I watched this city go under water

And saw nobody give a f**k

And what this city do

She stood right back up

So I found my strength

In her struggle and applied it to my life

Got my self off the ground

And got right back in the fight

I refuse to die

When the storms drown me out

And when push comes to shove

What's life really all about

Its a city of Saints and sinners

And Super Bowl winners

And every Monday night

You having red beans for dinner

Where you can hear the depth of our devotion

Played upon the horns of Rebirth

Because we refuse to lose

And will show you everything  that we're worth

That's why whenever I'm away

It's never long before I hear her calling

No matter wher I roam

I'm always coming home New Orleans

Because

When You breathe this city

You bleed this city

Can never leave this city

When you belive in this city

If you feel how I feel

Stand up and say this with me

I ain't never leaving

Until the devil comes to get me

    Your praise for the city

Your praise for the city of New Orleans is realy good, extensive but interesting. Taking the reader through the history of New Orleans and it's comeback after it was flooded is engrossing. A good poem and well written your craft at poetry is good.
