When sunlight spills across the day,
And laughter dances in its sway,
You walk beside me, close and near,
A fleeting warmth I hold as real.
But when the sky turns cold and gray,
And all the light begins to fray,
You slip into the thinning air,
As though you were never truly there.
I thought you were the one who’d stay,
Through shifting nights and broken days;
But emptiness now fills your place,
No trace, no voice, no saving grace.
So I remain and watch it end,
The fragile lie of what we’ve been;
For I have learned, through slow descent,
Some bonds are never truly meant.
