The Gloaming

Lake glimmering in the distance,

While tall grass starts to dance;

Cicadas chirp in the dark,

Barely visible in the dusk.

The wind makes a sudden sweep,

Dry leaves loosen from their grip;

Wavering phosphorescent lights

Drift from winged fireflies.

The tinted sky gradually shifts,

Celestial lights begin to seep;

The dawn of evening twilight,

What a breathtaking sight!

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem comes from imagining a twilight I’ve always wanted to witness.

Eric,
I've read all your work and this poem by far is my favorite. The imagery you created with your words was nothing short of phenomical. Great job and I hope to read more just as good as this one.
