MAYBE...SOME DAY...

The summer afternoon glides

Soon it will be evening

And the battle to live on till morning

Will begin.

Staying in the present is not so easy

As memories after memories cloud

The sea of imagination.

I had dreamed of a beautiful time

Friends to while off the evening hours

Laughter and plain, unselfish pleasure

With no worry about how the night goes:

Yet I have ended up all to myself

And my Creator.

I am not thankless for His favours.

Yet the tugging barbs of desire

For a loving soul to sit and talk with me

Swell up waves of tears in my heart:

Tears that foggily cloud the eyes

But controlled: not to flow...

This conflict goes on till morn

I must endure what has been written

By the Master Writer of Fate.

Probably...yes, probably

It is a test of my patience.

May THAT afternoon brings THAT evening

When, a lone soul thrown away by the present

And surviving on memories like mine

Holds my hand and sips tea with me

And we both watch the night pass on

Together...

Maybe...some day....

And maybe then, there won't be any sadness

Gripping my heart

Just like my companion's:

Just like me...totally me

Also revels in the passing hours

Hand in hand, smiling and singing

When yesterdays do not matter

Anymore to either of us...

I wait for that soul:

And only The Almighty knows:

MAYBE...S0ME DAY...

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem came naturally to me as I was sitting pondering on the growing afternoon of the summer day. I hope it is understood especially by those who know me as they should. It is a reflection of my innermost desire...since childhood...Broken only by the living damsel called Daphne John. But today she is in another very beautiful dimension....carefree and happy...and may she always be so. Let my sadness and memories be mine only.
