TO HAVE NOT AND HAVE

You are with me all the time

When I am awake

You are with me most of the time

Even when I am asleep.

I know what all you mean to me

I know what all you do for me

Selflessly, without expecting

Anything in return.

I am far, far away from you

As far as you are from me too

Yet it feels as if this is

Just a physical facade of time

That tries to keep us so much apart.

Yet let no fool think that you

Are ever away from my heart.

The whole universe will swear

That with you I am always fair.

Like so many lovers with love aflame

In their beings how can time tame

The rising tides within my soul

That wants to be one complete whole

With you my fairest dame.

I don't have you physically but

I care not for this routine rut

For in the very atoms of my blood

Your love flows on like a flood.

So this is what to have and have not is

Truth plain and simple and my bliss.

'The Fortune Vendor'

in this poem
your spirit
owns the night
these lines
as they speak
your heart
are
the rays of
dawn's first
breathtaking light
the beauty of the moment
is yours by command
in my own lines
I find
I am a street sweeper
compared to
the accomplishments of
your own so very blessed hand
you sir
are the vendor that sells
fortunes
to the less fortunate
all spices given
to help make tasty
the blandest bland
empty would
such a world be
without the gilded frame
such poetic words impart
that is your calling
in the panoramic corridors
of your broad engaging mind
you shed pain and tears
woefully from the heart
and from them such beauty
is cognizantly refined
yet sadly enough
more and more of it
the so very greedy for love
world
takes part
and ravenously dines
never even once thinking to thank
their selfless host
for such a generous banquet
of lines.....................
you know who!........so why type it?
