Desire

From a distance, he would often watch

As she radiated with such beauty

How he longed just to have her touch

But this love, he knew, wasn't to be

Often they'd meet, most times rather fast

And he'd quickly get lost in her eyes

As friendship grew, a bond was cast

Too bad all he showed was a disguise

Though he longed for her, he knew

What this action was sure to cause

"I'll hurt you," he said, and this would prove true

As the soul breaks to nature's laws

Soon, he said, as he sensed she was fleeting

So he swiftly disposed of his pride

Slowly she faded as his heart kept beating

He could only watch her as she died

Alone once again, he revisits his pain

As he reflects on the time they've spent

A single thought, as he walks through the rain

To have known her touch, her taste, her scent

Though she is gone, within his memories she remains
