Sitting Pretty

I dressed up for you today,

But you might never know,

I had my hair done so nice,

My roots don?t even show,

I wore my makeup simple,

Just played up my eyes,

I haven't looked in the mirror since,

Afraid of what in there lies,

I wore a shirt I know you like,

You complimented it one time,

I wore tight pants and my hair down,

Perfume of coconut and lime,

I sit and wait for you,

You were unofficially invited,

Just in case you show,

I keep my front porch lighted,

Watching for your arrival,

Thinking of your embrace,

Knowing I might never again,

Look upon your face,

Did I just dream you up?

Conjured from thin air?

No one could just imagine,

Those blue eyes and that stare,

So I will keep my post here,

Thinking of you always,

Hoping you will show up,

Remembering our better days.
