•When I was just a young boy you left us aside  

When I was just a young boy you made my mama cry 

When I was just a young boy you left me behind  

Not caring if we’d make it or how we would survive 

You thought about yourself and nothing more, not thinking about the one you vowed your love for. 

While she worked and she slaved to make happiness fill the house

You were truly nothing but a heartless louse 

But that’s okay, it’s no problem I was raised with love and care 

I was taught compassion, truth, and to spread love everywhere 

To respect every woman and to keep the Lord first among

And to never break the vow once “I do” has been sung

Not caring if we’d make it or how we would survive (x2)

When I was just still young and June 17th rolled around 

I’d never understand the significance that was crowned 

A day devoted to fathers who were proud and stuck around 

And I would see mine would be no where to be found 

But as I grew up the day meant less and less

I’d see the ones around me who raised me and I was blessed 

A man who stood up and gladly took your spot

A teacher, director, and an acting father who who did a lot

When I was just a young boy you left me behind  

Not caring if we’d make it or how we would survive 

I spent my teenage years trying to make everyone proud 

Stressing if they’d clap when I took my final bow

When all along I found out it was your loss and their gain 

I suddenly felt relief and a whole lot less of pain 

Now don’t get me wrong you did do one ounce of good 

That was motivation to be a better man you dreamed you ever would 

So yes, I’m just fine and that’s all thanks to my ma

And I’m glad that she got to play both roles of dad and Mom

But don’t worry that’s okay, We’re living our lives perfect, Mom and I.
