1426.

Distance is nothing but time beneath our feet,
but I've learned it can also be
the hell between a heart and body.
I've memorized every mile in between.

I could use a break, from miss-steps
and miscalculations that lead me from
'Used to it', to sheer agony.
There are no roads between.

But if I fall out of line just once,
You'll miss my dialect and never know
that winter is the second coldest.
There are no seasons between.

I will be stronger, I will be better.
I will one day change my tune.
Until then 1,426.
1,426 will be stuck in my head.

Emptiness Images

Bookcases of lines about nothing in between, I love emptiness motifs, they are heart and head filling, like blanks to be unblanked...love this poem because it tells the story of us and our place in time told in footsteps ~~~Lady A
