the moonlight dances erratically 
across the water as it weaves its magical spell 
temporarily laying to rest the concerns of yesterday 
and relieving the stresses of today 
 oh the smell of a campfire 
the haunting call of a hoot owl 
 the sounds of nature at her finest 
a pleasure shared with intimacy 
with family and friends 
as nature shares her bounty 
rich with enchantments and magic
to those willing to take the time 
to close their eyes and see
to put aside the conceit and frayed vanities 
of human nature
