"Sunbursts and Double Rainbows"

by DaddyO

I'm sorry for caring when you don't want my care

I'm sorry for breathing in too much of your air

I'm sorry for falling in love unaware

That it wouldn't be something we mutually shared

I'm sorry for taking too much of your time

Requesting pictures of your smile so sublime

I'm feeling no guilt even if it's a crime

For a season you were the reason my poetry rhymed

Giving you time and giving you space

Pains me when I cannot see your face

I can't go pretending to consider my place

In your life anymore without feeling disgraced

I'll stop pretending I can be what you need

My open arms willing but you fear will mislead

I offered my best but my best won't succeed

So all I can hope is to just plant the seed

Only your favorite baby pink rose

Exceeds the hydrangeas and double rainbows

And sunbursts pulsating from a place I'd once go

On a woman I tried my damnedest to know

So do your best on your own because you're always you

There really is nothing I feel I can do

Especially when it seems it's my help you eschew

Just know that the love that I offered was true

Author's Notes/Comments:

2019

All the rainbows in the sky start to weep and say goodbye.
You won't be seeing rainbows anymore.
Setting suns before they fall, echo to you that's all, that's all.
But you'll see lonely sunsets after all.
It's over it's over it's over it's over
