003 (7/12/03) Mixed Feelings

Mixed Feelings

by Elizabeth Van Cleve (July 12, 2003)

How does one sort it out

Excitement mixed with pain

Adventures lie ahead

Yet everything will change

Little sisters, little brothers,

Mommy and my dad

Why does moving forward

mean others stay behind?

Little eyes are watching

I must do this right

God gives us wings to use

And time creates the flight

Being first is scary

Yet, I move ahead

I want to go and yet,

Could someone go instead?

Don't look back, some say

But that's when back is bad

I keep my home within me

And the memory of our embrace

Author's Notes/Comments:
