rachael

scattered shreds of paper

litter the bedroom floor

the walls shake with laughter

as they have so many times before

the stereo plays something

to which we both can sing along

thoughts and secrets are exchanged

and no-one's right or wrong

you are so much like me

and yet you're so like you

i'm glad it's more than marriage

that makes you act the way you do

i believe the term is in-law

but that's not where it ends

the truth is we're truly sisters

and more important, friends.

Author's Notes/Comments:
