I Stared Straight Into The Soul Of a Man Who Wasn't You

Locking eyes with a drunk man in front of me.

I blushed and I smiled and fumbled around.

Trying to avoid an inescapable gaze of sullen sincerity.

He pinned me easily,

Like he almost knew me.

I wasn't drinking, I could swear, but

His existence started to fade in and out

And in this state of altered vision

I began seeing pieces of you.

So I stood, locking eyes and dancing with this echoing version who,

For a minute I could have sworn,

Could feel you dancing too.
