Calling Down The Night

Folder:
Volume 3

You and I could dream

when we never feared the night

when neither words nor chains were binding

and the stars fell like rain to earth

but as we walked our dreams fell too,

from our pockets, like the stars

so as we gathered stars, at equal rates

we lost our dreams

Now both the dreaming and the sky

are starless, void, and night

No moon now, no stars,

our empty pockets light

just the rattling, cold,

of the stars’ dry bones

hung around our necks

like chains

and calling down

the night

calling down \ the night

This kind of poem has always been almost... haunting for me. Lovely phrases, wording that just makes you want to think about all the possible meanings it could have. Very very nice writing.
