To Be Heard

Folder:
Soul Poetry

I speak in volumes,

decibles above,

what close-minded ears can hear.

Those who only listen

to politically correct dialogue,

spewn forth

from both sides of society's mouth,

but turn a deaf ear

from truth.

To be heard above the din

of the system's voice,

one must project higher tones

than the kindergarten phonics

and tantrum dramatics,

of the playground bullies.

One must speak in loud

and monotone tongue,

emphasizing pro-nun-ci-a-tion,

to be assured they grasp

the difference between

verb and noun,

the distinction of action...

and reaction-

lest they become confused,

angered,

take their gameball,

stomp off the playing field

and refuse to play nicely.
