SERPENT CHAMELEON



When serpents shed their skins

their eyes turn milky.

New hues ensue

and blend with their surroundings.

Fangs dull.

Tongues fuse.

Those they meet

no longer see

a snake,

but shake hands with

a serpent-chameleon,

and never know the truth

until the venom sets in.
