Behind words

Behind words

Once again
He is standing
On stage
Under bright light
With his cigar box
Guitar
That traveled thousands
And thousands of miles
Singing his blues
With heavy sweat
On his forehead
From whiskey
And cocaine
In front of bunch
Of people
In euphoria
That knows every word
Of everyone
Of his songs
But don't know
What they mean
And pain that lies
Behind them
While fingers dance
On four strings
Relief come in every
Stroke of pick
Reflecting his life
In notes
Taking his chance
With crowd
Knowing that now
He stands as a ruin
Of a man
But they still love him
He was number one
Once
The king
Now just shade
Falling apart
Ruined by cocaine
Booze
And women
In that moment
He stop to play
Just at peak
Of song
Crowd is in shock
And he ask himself
For how long
He can take this
He take zip
Of whiskey
Then silence
Not even one tone
Band questioning him
What is going on
And he start to play
Once again
Driving solo
Best that he can
Take out from
His cigar box guitar
And in his lifetime
A solo
Long one
For last time
