A Year Away From Home

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry I lied.

To my friends, to my family...

To myself.

I'm sorry for the months I cried.

I'm sorry for the night I threw up

from too much beer on the Superbowl.

I'm sorry I chose friends who didn't give a shit.

I'm sorry I let other people make me feel small.

I'm sorry for all the money I wasted.

Freedom...I just wanted to taste it.

Most of all, I'm sorry for letting my life get so far off track.

I'm sorry for the year I'll never get back.

Author's Notes/Comments:

If you guys look at some earlier post from 2013, you might notice they are kinda depressing.  At the time, I wasn't aware of it, I was depressed.  This is a poem about a year from hell.   There is a footnote to this poem that reflects my current mental state.

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
