Looking at the Sky

I tasted it once

Caught on a cool breeze

Lifted by the soft light of evening

in the spring of my life.

What was I then?

When I smiled for the sake of smiling.

When nothing seemed impermanent

nothing had lost meaning.

Lay I down

in the crush of green grass

Knowing without knowing

the depth of forever.
