Too Many Miles

Locked here behind four walls

not knowing what I can do

From your heart I hear calls

and know you are hurting too

The miles stretch out in between

to keep me from holding onto you

to shield you from what you've seen

and give you strength like I want to do

So as I sit here feeling colder than before

feeling the absence of power in my soul

to erase that which has left your heart sore

the sadness creeps in to take its toll

Author's Notes/Comments:

Written more years ago then I can remember. I wrote it for a distant friend going through a painful time following a tragic experience.
