Faces

The face is the mirror of the mind.. people say

I shall try to discuss some which came my way

Plump, baby face,.................innocent,quizzical

Sprinting around with an image .......... I found

The IMAGE of questions....... ignorant yet wise

An empty cigarette-box he views with surprise

Ears ever so sharp............ eyes ever so bright

In both of them shines ............the Divine Light

Similar to a fledgling.......... taking its first flight

Smartly dressed ...........in the story-book suit

Mirror polished shoes............. on his tiny feet

Face now moulded, less fat , high cheek bones

Eyes  dulled.. with the reading of study books

His ignorance is clear .....from his vacant looks

Skirt metamorphosised.... into dandy trousers

She has learnt to dab face with cosmetic cream

Inside her  body  heart began to lose its gleam

She sings, dances, she paints, she studies hard

Shakespeare on her mind........ the toiling bird

Dreams written ........all over her beautiful face

Is there a tiny twitch when her grades disgrace?

Crawling on all fours ........... on the dusty street

The urchin child............ face as dusty as his feet

Mucous trickling down .............. his dirty nostrils

He is enjoying his childhood.......... sans any frills

His mind isn't dusty.................. its shine is intact

Its after a few years ..............his heart will react

Geography, History,............Mathematics, Science

Which of these help .......to clear the conscience?

A clear conscience reflects ...on the countenance

Any need to go to a temple or forest for penance?

Simplicity,truth, humility............. are ebbing away

Will these come back to Modern Man? Maybe someday.........................

Author's Notes/Comments:

Some dusty stuff I managed to dig out from my old scrapbook written six years back. At times I used to enjoy looking at faces................... Most faces were grim, resolute without any trace of happiness....... But again ,why should anyone put on a pleasant look ? A happy face is infectious.
