Quaking Boulders

Hundreds of tourists sitting on rocks overlooking the sea

Tiny sea town ...three hours drive from Kolkata

As if they had arrived to watch some winter regatta

Urban citizens savouring the fresh, clean air

Starved wild tigers got out of their lair

Toddlers carrying brightly coloured balloons

Teenagers swinging to music... doing silly things

Bleary-eyed couples eyeing sea-shell wares at seaside shops

Middle-aged people strolling lazily on the neon-lit street

Oldies have flopped down on the boulders with tired feet

Sickle shaped dim moon floating in the winter sea sky

The boulders making barriers striving to stop the waves

Building up strength as the night grows old

Waves trying their best to shake the boulders bold

Nature's fury boiling in the veins of the mighty sea

"You frail, puny boulders.. dare to stand before me!"

With a heave the waves hit the massive boulders

"We can't bear your strength on our puny shoulders"

The boulders quaked with fright-yet they felt the delight

Ecstasy------- after finally losing the primordial fight !
