Timekeeper

Wall clocks, table clocks, digital clocks... shining new

Elegant flashy wristwatches .....giving time to view

A clock-shop selling time------- clocks and watches

Suiting all budgets and fancies ....... young and old

Fresh stocks of designer watches ....plated in gold

White bearded man ....... walking down the street

Looking at his frail wrist... my heart skipped a beat

A century old ..........handwound mechanical watch

My latest quartz watch............. was just no match

I asked him the time............ He said he didn't care

for time .....since he had already travelled very far

Then show me your watch ..........I'd love to see it

He grinned merrily... I mused if he was mentally fit

He unhooked his watch....said.....Take this my son

You may enjoy time.................... but I have none

He strutted away leaving me shocked and amazed

I peered at the watch................ at its dial I gazed

Made in Switzerland .............Eighteen Eighty Four

It had no hands............. only the picture of a door

Author's Notes/Comments:

Time has always amazed me. I thought of a watch showing a door to future i.e. in time. Any need for hands or digits ? I was once travelling by train I met a young man. He didn't wear a watch. He was a traveller in India. I foolishly asked him why he didn't wear a watch. He said "I have plenty of time " !!!!!!
