Gems

Five rupees a kilo !! Five rupees !!
The junkbuyer screamed- welcomed
Into the rudderless house- no longer a home
The childhood toys, the wheel-less bus
The plastic oil tanker, the tin soldier
Bits and pieces of memories, invisible yarn
Timeless treasure, hours of immense pleasure

Soft, cuddly elephant, the squeaking giraffe
Make-believe world, the vast untold secrets
Musty damp fragrance, Christmas holidays
Papa the He Man, Batman, Superman
Untold unfathomed love, security,affection..
Hans Andersons Fairy Tales,The Arabian Nights
Mellowed,yellow,brittle with age and neglect

The ageing walls, the cobwebbed playpen
Treasure trove,eyes bright,sparkling,questioning..
Endless riddles,puzzles,quizzes, none answered!
Sunrise and sun set day after day
Lost the way in the labyrinth of adulthood
Today I tread softly lest I trample on my childhood

Two hundred rupees ! Only two hundred !!
The cost of priceless gems in me studded !!
