Sky darkened at four p.m.

Colour of grey black smoke

Is the sky being badgered

Streaks of lightning

Renting the dark sky

Like the lady’s “sinthi” [hair parting]

No no no wizards magic

The hot stuffy warm day

Sweat trickling down neck

Vests wet with perspiration

The hapless have nots

Sweat and toil praying

Hoping for a reprieve

Then it came !!!!

Loud thundering drumbeats

The stiff cool breeze

Followed by strong winds

Blowing dust and plastic bags

Helter skelter

Cityites are happy

Get prepared for the

Kalboishakhi …….

The rain began

Slow drips then torrents

Fans are switched off

People gather at window sills

To see nature’s magic

Kolkata is prepared

Maybe this weekend
