Two Mothers

She'll grow up to call you "Mom and Dad,"
She'll love you as though she were  your own
And yet I hope she'll love me too.
It's been six years since I last saw her.
Such a precious child with such a bright future.
Yet I told her goodbye when she was just two days old.
Treasure her dearly, for I have given her to you.
Watch her grow into a beautiful woman and teach her values,
And if she should ever ask, Tell her I loved her with all my heart.
I named her Sadie Lyn,
She really was me "princess," but that name she'll never know,
For the world knows her as Alyson.
She'll grow up not knowing who I am,
She'll grow up calling another woman "Mommy"
Yet I did all I could for her.
And she'll always be my little Angel.
Even if we never meet again.
For I gave her the gift of life.
She'll always have a little part of me in her.
Way deep inside.
The memory that she was loved all along.
I loved her so much, I gave her to you.
Raise her to know right from wrong.
For she's more precious than most children-
She has the love of two mothers.
