Eye Coffee

Lights

Little trickles of light

Prevent me from sleeping.

The alarm clock jams a crowbar

Under my eyelids.

Light from the moon sneaks through the blinds

Slicing my eyeballs.

A green light from the smoke detector

Is prickling my pupils.

Worst of all, worries burst from my heart

And play solos on my ribcage.

I need the blanket of darkness.

One way to battle insomnia is

One way to battle insomnia is to work out really hard before bed so your body is so exhausted that it just shuts down on its own without your mind causing you to stay awake.  At least that's what I ended up doing while I had insomnia.  Regardless, insomnia sucks but nice imagery in this poem.

It's not insomnia, I took anapanddrankcoffeelate. I love a good insomnia poem and this is a perfectly descriptive one. Bravo!
