Health, Death, and More Taxes

I wish to apologize for reading so much that is googled. What happens is this: my comments take on world views via BBC. Great Britain (which we familiarly call England - derived from the Angles) write from a differnt slant than product driven and filtered news here on television. I tried to listen in recently to tv news and well, there was no news, no journalism, and lots of promotions for local events and businesses. I watch the Newsroom and listen to all the arguments against letting corporate dictate content, but when the corps promote other corps and name it news worthy, I simply wonder what is going on in the world that is so boring they have to promote a pizza place openin (gala).

.

New York Times is still pretty broad minded, but buying news on line is not taking off they way they would like. It is either pay for food or buy great news. At a buck, I'd occasionally buy a Sunday times, at $2.50 I go to dinner. Or pay a bill. Or buy clothes. It used to be free - some of the lead articles on line from NYT, but it was a hook to get you to subscribe.

.

There is so much wealth, and prosperity, and stuff in the world. Enough to go round so no one starves and at minum has a roof and a bed and indoor plumbling. Globolization was supposed to put the metaphorical chicken in every pot. Geniuses work it out and figure how to collect enough to retire after moving around in financial system for 20 or 30 years.
Anyone who is not ramming a book into their children's hands at age six is missing the point. You have to play to win.

Respected Mm Allets

Respected Mm Allets.Nice infowriteup. In my part of the blob I subscribe to two dailies.. Shan't name them. One is in English & the other in local language Bengali. Both are sheafs of advertisements for consumer goods.Consumerism is the only thing rampant in newspapers & magazines.Even the TV channels cannot be viewed uninterrupted because of the nuisance of advertisements. The dailies take up askewed views even in the editorials. I am glad to know that NYTimes is "still pretty broad-minded" But Madam , I have to read these local newspapers since they are the news talked in social circles. Radical views shall alienate me from society. The lure for easy money via "reality shows" has caught up.Even so called educated citizens want some quick buck without working hard for it.Madam Allets.. this is how things are, will be for a long long time. Yet I am hopeful that the next generation will discover the ills and opt out of the "rat race" Have a nice time.2.45 p.m.Local Time

Thanks Mssr Bishu

It has been a long long time since ANYONE invited me to "have a nice time". That made me smile. Yes, radical views will ostracize you from society pretty quickly, but here it is listened to courteously before you are shunned, shamed, and not invited back. NYTimes, not so broad as liberal and left in its outlook, which might be deemed radical in Conservative circles. Today I learned that employees of fast food restaurants striking and want to strike for $15.00 per hour. Those chains make a lot of money and can afford benefits and vacation and sick time. They are the only jobs available for non-college educated folks.  follow the money time. I retired at 58 because the work place became vicious and so mean I got fed up. I miss working, miss the variety of co-workers and administrators but that was a job a younger person got (and can learn). Also news flash from BBC, marijuana is being looked at here as a cash crop and though a federal offense, the states are taking California's lead - California is our biggest state and had record whopper sized deficits but recently had emerged from dire debt. Marijuana is, for all practical purposes, legal there. The world changes. Later on. ~allets~
