To Say Farewell

To accept the hand extended before me is to say my final farewell.

As I look to you, my true death.

My body trembles, my eyes are filled with the last tears they will shed.

The screams of the world, the voices of all those who I have known echo through my ears, calling me from the darkness.

Their voices are filled with fear,

To those whom I love, you need not worry

I am not afraid my heart is steady.

My soul is calm, I feel total clarity

I am ready, it is but a small step to begin the journey in which we all must take. One that lies beyond what our eyes can see.

I take only your love and memories with me.

To Say Farewell

a ritual - another kind of rite of passage, no? A poem to death - I felt this one in very old bones - Well said! ~allets~
