As Time Goes By

The painful memories are coming back,

They will never go away.

Seeing you in agony,

Makes me want to break down.

You were so brave to fight

Never giving up until the end,

A cure was not to be,

And you peacefully left this world.

God held out His hand and said,

'Come to me, my Son'

Sometimes I sit here and wonder,

Why God had to take you away from us.

You have moved on,

From this world to the next,

You now roam the sunny slopes,

In the bright lands far away.

Though I cannot see you,

I feel your presense all around.

I know you are watching over me,

And your bright light is shining down.

'There you'll wait, O my beloved,

Never knowing want or care,

And when I have seen my seasons,

We will walk together there.'
