I Hate You, Not Really

Folder:
The Process

Hate is not the opposite of love

But rather the intent to love gone wrong

You may think that by hating,

That you are withholding love,

But you are far, far from the truth...

To hate means that I,

I am still giving you my all

Each and every wicked piece of me

That loved you before the fall

These pieces that scream

"I hate you!"

Are shattered memories

turned to lies.

Why would I give so much attention to

Something that I despise?

The truth is that

It's just a lie,

a lie we tell ourselves.

To help us cope with what we lost;

Trick ourselves into thinking

That we are better off

If I did not love you,

I would never be able to hate you.

Instead I would just

leave

you

be

And never think of you again.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I am really not a hateful person, but after going through a messy breakup, I am experiencing the nasty feelings of wanting to hate my former partner's guts. But what's the use? Like I express in this writing, there is no point in hating, when it is just a lie we tell ourselves. It is hard being hurt by someone you love, and it can be hard to admit that you still love that person, but hate is essentially the same as love, only the darker side of it. Thank you for reading.

Messy breakups

This poem absolutely hit home for me. You are very right you know... Hate is not the opposite of love but more like a darker, more twisted form of love that we experience. We cannot have one without the other sometimes. I will check out your other poems too! If you want to see if we can relate... please feel free to check out my page as well. If you want the heartbreak stuff, check out my "reflections" folder and my "Madison" folder.

(Madison is how I refer to myself when writing occasionally, it's weird I Know because my name is not even close to it)

When hate

Is stronger than love
You know then, that you've had enough

Two sided coin they are, love and hate. One cannot exist without the other to take its place. And then there's the precipice between the two, indifference. Which is much more insulting than hate ;)

Beautiful work. Reminds me why we try to forget. I bow to your talent, fellow wordsmith

RoC:

I was alluding to the idea that resentment is the opposite of love, I'm so glad you get where I'm coming from...

And once again, thank you for your kind words about my writing. You flatter me so!

Hate is a strong word

Relationships are an Instigator

Of a lot of things.

There is a lot of Hate in the World.

I know that.

Is it all unfounded ?

To KS:

Hate only brings more hate, and this I know to be true. It can be tempting to give into the feeling of hatred, but in the end it only causes more pain.

Love is always the answer; this I believe.

Thank you for your sweet compliment.

Peace and Love,
