Winter Solstice

on any clear cold winter night,

we see stars rise above the sea.

a hint of clouds and waves of inherent might.

December’s crescent moon wants to follow me.

what implication this cold coercion brings?"

tip backward from impulsive tide.

the indiscretion of winter winds is at the heart of things.

swallow silently, waiting for summers warmth implied.

frosted breath escapes from earthly lips feel the harsh nights scrape.

hear the howling flow, skimming swift over shallows.

Nor’ easterly gale prevents the rounding of the cape.

see an entourage of water climbing, lock steps towards the icy gallows.

strange buoys warning, command the confidence of Odysseus.

listen to ancient poets tell, stories forever retold.

to soothe winters wrath hear the singing Hesperides.

as the winter-rising Capricorn continues too unfold.
