My Wedding

I'm too broken for words

Your life brought so much joy

Now all that's left are tears

Death won't give you up

Shame on your angelic smile

For the heavens wanted it too

Memories that built your pedestal

It's now all a heartache

My veil upon my face

Revealing our true love

I knew you remembered me then

Waited for me to become real

I said my vow

Vows that you longed for

Even when your memory was stolen

I gave back true love to you

Shame on me for showing you the way

To a paradise I've yet to see

I ripped my veil so many times in my mind

For now that you are gone

Taking my wedding veil with you

I knew one thing

Life did me wrong

I got what I longed for

And lost you in return

Author's Notes/Comments:

My wedding day was on 11-5-2016.  I decided to marry the love of my life in front of another love of my life, my grandmother.  She was bedridden and suffered from Alzheimer's for many years.  So I decided to get married in front of her in her hospital room.  Five days later she died.
