An early poem which I rarely read anymore as it feels awkward and juvenile in some ways.

It's accurate of my emotions and writing early on, so I've left it as a mile marker to return to and rejoice in the knowledge I've moved on from here.

A double entendre in the title showing the bounds we acquire within an abusive family situation.

This is based on an experience of returning to old family homes and the deep painful emotions that were brought up by those reminiscences.

A vivid memory from my childhood.  As is common with children who grow up with alcholic parents, I came to learn later in life that in many ways I had frozen my development as a defense against a difficult situation.

This poem tries to communicate what that is like.

I placed second in a contest for which there were about 200 poems entered.  

One of my better poems I believe.

Another poem born on the memories of verbal abuse.  I've never been tatooed and never will be.  I assumed something of a voice here trying to understand why people are involved in cutting.  An practice that is receiving more attention.

It's all about control.  It provides an outlet I think in part for those who do it to say, I am in charge.

NOt sure it is all that helpful and again, it is an assumed voice.  I understand the pain of verbal and mental abuse.  I dealt with it other ways, not this one.

This was a disturbing poem to write.  Read it outloud to try and appreciate the use of beginning letters in each stanza designed to acoustically reinforce the words themselves.

Child abuse is far more than physical beatings, as awful as those are.  The constant stream of criticism, ridicule and cruelty that adults can inflict upon Children are just awful.

I've experienced both.  I'll tkae the physical beatings over the mental and verbal abuse.

This is something I have experienced first hand, and so many others have to.  This is a message for all the others.  Get away from it!!!!

Whoah. take a deep breath after that one. i dont know where i was going with that one, it was supposed to be kind of an angry tribute, but it just got worse and worse as i went down the line. enjoy the rant while you still can...it will definately be deleted soon.

I don't know what I've created here, but I've created something. I'm sure there are many people who can relate. Tell me if you know what I mean...

It's awful when a person loses their life. What had taken years to put together was destroyed in one moment.
