Emily's Questions

Folder:
Emily

While holding her in your arms,

dreaming of who she’d be.

Did you know you’d destroy her life?

How far ahead did you see?

Did you know how she would love you,

and try to win your heart?

Did you plan to keep your love away?

Did you know this from the start?

Well, Mother now the war is over,

our battles fought , you won.

Can you celebrate your victory,

knowing what you’ve done?

I am amazed at how much is told in this poem in such few words, and with such a delicate rhyme scheme. This poem is a triumphant return for this Major Poet on postpoems, and I applaud her continuing achievement.
