Frostbite

When the light burned out

Along it went with dignity

When the light turned down

My sights began to darken

When the light went away

A part of me flew with it

When the light ran astray

It left me hopeless as I am

Sooner to say this is what I've become

To be left stranded along side the road

I've claimed this land as my own

As the frozen veins pumped

This frostbitten blood

I've built this wall around me

To keep out all that is good

Iced tears sparkle under moonlight

What once was warm and peaceful

Has become a cold-blooded wasteland

Life frozen in time

In a place where the sun no longer shines

I hear you, I see you

I feel your desperation

But how can I make a stand

Without my own declaration?

A verse reversed and submerged

Under the pale blue skin

Sinking within, washed away reality

I just want to know

How I can feel warm again

To not be afraid of anything that comes

But if I am to remain alone

I'd rather be 6 feet under

With no marker

So where can I go

Where the sun will shine on me?
